While many of us look forward to Spring arriving,
there are others of us who can’t help but dread the allergies
that go with it. An estimated 1 out of 5
American’s have allergies. The biggest culprits are
pollens, dust, and molds. Of course, you should consult
with your doctor to discuss your options regarding
medications, supplements or diet changes. But, here
are a few tips to supplement what your doctor prescribes:

A clean house with less dust has fewer allergens and makes for a healthy indoor environment.
At least two times a year it’s good to do a thorough
cleaning of the carpets, upholstery, pillows, mattress
covers, even your window coverings and make
sure your air ducts are kept clean every 3-5 years. I
remember the years when my mother did Spring and
Fall cleaning. We’d haul the mattresses outside and
clean every square inch of our rooms. Not a bad concept
but I’m not sure about taking the mattresses outside.
A good vacuuming would likely do! And save
on your back!
